The cyber skirmish between musical luminaries, Ayodeji Balogun, alias Wizkid, and David Adedeji, known as Davido, persisted into the night on Monday.
Wizkid had previously cast a shadow at Davido. Responding to a fan's plea for new music, he shared a leaked video of Davido beseeching someone believed to be a female acquaintance.
The Grammy-winning vocalist also marginalized the accomplished music producer and record label magnate, Don Jazzy, as a mere 'influencer',
This stirred commotion on the micro-blogging platform, leaving many pondering the discord between the two.
Yet, Davido, on Monday evening, disseminated a sequence of enigmatic tweets thought to be rejoinders to the Ojuelegba songster.
In one tweet, Davido remarked, "They are unaware of your melodic charm," targeting Wizkid, who had hinted at releasing his much-anticipated Morayo album in May.
Continuing unabated, the Aiye crooner tweeted, "When illumination arrives, obscurity dissipates. Let us be proactive.
Davido also shared a video featuring his spouse, Chioma Adeleke, accompanied by the caption, "They endeavored to divert our focus, my dear, pay them no heed".
Meanwhile, Wizkid retorted initially with a barb, tweeting, "You and your entire entourage, along with your underappreciated songsmith, retire to slumber each night under the delusion that you hold sway over me in music 🤣😂 I wish you all the best ✌️".
He followed it with another tweet, "You know what..no need. Illusory individuals 😇 I wish you well", which elicited a direct response, "WE ARE NOT DELUDED, YOU'RE UNWELL" from Davido, indicating no affection lost between the two Afrobeat luminaries.
The Jaiye Jaiye maestro, not mincing words, echoed the tweet with the same leaked video of Davido.
The schism between both megastars would catch many off guard, considering their recent embrace at a Lagos nightclub.
Prior to the nocturnal rendezvous, Wizkid had announced plans for a joint excursion with his rival in 2023.
He took to his Instagram story to reveal that the venture would follow the tour for his fifth studio opus 'More Love, Less Ego (MLLE)', which debuted in mid-2023.
Deemed as one of Nigeria's premier musical exports, the duo's association has often been fraught with tension.
